In Australia and New Zealand World Expeditions has four divisions - Australian Walking Holidays, Tasmanian Expeditions, the Blue Mountains Adventure Company and Adventure South. Our divisions operate across the region and are always seeking passionate and enthusiastic guides to join our team. World Expeditions pioneered trekking on Central Australia's Larapinta Trail. We were the first to operate Larapinta treks in 1995 and have been the market leader ever since. Our Classic Larapinta Trek in Comfort is listed as one of the seven Great Walks of Australia and has won the NT Brolga Award for Ecotourism four times – in 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2024 – and also won the Brolga in Adventure Tourism in 2022, 2023 and 2024. We also have a thriving Top End program and an expanding South Australian and Western Australian package. We believe travel is about embracing the nature, culture and people of each destination, which is why we strive to create unique and innovative adventures that give travellers an immersive experience with minimal environmental impact. We are currently seeking applications for our guide intake to the Australian Walking Holidays team for the 2026 trekking season. For roles based in Alice Springs, Darwin, Airlie Beach or Townsville from March – October. Successful applicants could find themselves working across a wide range of locations including the Larapinta Trail, Kings Canyon, Kakadu, Litchfield, the Jatbula Trail, Bungle Bungles, Uluru-Kata Tjuta or new in 2026 – the Ngaro Track and Thorsbourne Trail. Successful applicants may also be eligible for financial assistance if required to relocate. Applicants must have a strong background in wilderness tour leading and/or outdoor education. Applicants must have or be willing to obtain: Guiding or Outdoors Qualification (Cert IV is highly beneficial) Remote Area or Wilderness First Aid Minimum Light Rigid Manual Driver's Licence (preference for Medium Rigid) Public Passenger Accreditation (H endorsement in the NT) Working With Children Check We are looking for guides who: Are passionate about and have extensive hiking/trekking experience Proactively ensure the smooth running of trips Are confident driving a 4WD or Coaster bus Are confident cooking and catering for groups Are confident with public speaking and socialising with guests Make sound, well‑judged decisions to ensure guest safety Genuinely enjoy delivering exceptional guest experiences and hosting guests in remote wilderness locations The work is seasonal from March to October. There is also the opportunity to go on to year‑round guiding work with our other domestic divisions.
