About This Role As the Clinical Safety, Quality & Patient Experience Manager at Norwest Private Hospital, you will lead the development and implementation of robust clinical governance and risk management frameworks that underpin safe, high-quality patient care. This pivotal role is responsible for driving continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability across the hospital. Governance & Strategic Oversight The Clinical Safety, Quality & Patient Experience Manager is responsible for leading governance structures that support safe, high-quality care and compliance with national standards. This role ensures that risk is proactively identified, assessed, and mitigated through robust systems and continuous improvement processes. Key governance responsibilities include: Chair of Standard Committee Meetings – Lead and facilitate committee meetings to ensure effective governance of clinical and operational standards, drive consensus, and oversee implementation of agreed actions. Participation in Quality Manager Meetings – Actively engage in cross-departmental forums to align strategic priorities, share best practices, and support consistent quality outcomes across all facilities. Policy Governance – Oversee the development, review, and implementation of clinical and operational policies to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and alignment with industry best practice. Patient Experience Leadership – Collaborating with managers to respond to patient concerns, build trust, champion initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in patient experience and care quality. This role leads the facility’s risk management framework, ensuring timely identification, investigation, and resolution of clinical and operational risks. Key risk-related responsibilities include: Incident Investigation & Reporting – Lead comprehensive investigations into clinical and operational incidents, lead Serious Adverse Event Reviews, and develop actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence and enhance patient safety. Hospital Rounding & Spot Audits – Conduct proactive rounds and targeted audits to identify gaps in practice, assess compliance with standards, and elevate high-risk issues to relevant stakeholders for timely resolution. HAC Review – Analyse Hospital-Acquired Complications data to identify trends, evaluate contributing factors, and collaborate with clinical teams to implement evidence-based interventions that reduce harm. CSR oversight to manage Critical System Reviews, analysing findings to inform risk mitigation strategies, strengthen governance frameworks, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Safety Huddle Attendance – Actively participate in daily safety huddles to contribute to real-time risk identification, escalation, and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring a culture of safety and transparency. Compliance & Regulatory Response The Clinical Safety, Quality & Patient Experience Manager ensures the facility meets all regulatory and accreditation requirements, including: Standard Compliance Monitoring – Ensure alignment with NSQHS and internal benchmarks. Data Reporting for M&M Meetings – Provide analytical insights to support clinical governance. HCCC Response Coordination – Manage timely and appropriate responses to complaints and investigations. Patient Feedback Analysis – Translate consumer insights into quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Experience Current registration with AHPRA Tertiary qualifications in health, clinical governance, quality or risk management. Demonstrated experience in healthcare quality and risk leadership. Strong knowledge of NSQHS Standards, accreditation, and regulatory frameworks.
