Mercedes College is a Catholic secondary school for girls in Years 7 to 12, governed by Mercy Education Limited and grounded in the Mercy Tradition. Situated in the heart of Perth CBD and part of the City’s heritage precinct, the College was the first foundation of the Sisters of Mercy in Australia and is the oldest girls’ school in Australia still on its original site of foundation. Brief Overview of the Position The Archivist plays a key role in preserving the historical and administrative records of Mercedes College through the systematic digitisation, cataloguing, and secure management of physical and digital documents. This part‑time position supports the College’s commitment to efficient information governance and long‑term preservation of institutional memory. Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services and relevant staff across departments, the Archivist will be responsible for assessing, organising, scanning, and indexing historical and operational records into the College’s digital archive system. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, sound knowledge of document handling and classification standards, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and record‑keeping integrity.
