Senior Pulmonary Function Scientist, TQEH Salary: MeS2 - $88,255.00- $108,809.00p.a. (pro-rata) + Superannuation & Salary Sacrifice Benefits Part Time, Permanent Role working 15 hours per week About the Role As the Senior Pulmonary Function Scientist , you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality respiratory diagnostic services that support clinicians in the assessment and management of patients with respiratory conditions. Drawing on advanced scientific knowledge and technical expertise, you will perform both routine and complex pulmonary function tests, ensuring accurate data collection, thorough analysis and precise reporting. Your work will contribute directly to improved patient outcomes by providing reliable, clinically meaningful respiratory measurements. In addition to test performance, you will lead key Quality Assurance activities, including verifying testing standards, auditing processes, and supporting continuous quality improvement within the laboratory. You will also identify and troubleshoot equipment or methodological issues, contributing to solutions that enhance service accuracy and reliability. As a senior member of the team, you will participate in training, education and research, supporting the professional development of staff and the advancement of respiratory science practice. About You You are a detail-focused and scientifically minded health professional with strong technical capability and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality respiratory measurements. With excellent communication skills, the ability to work both independently and within a team, and a patient-centred approach, you bring the professionalism and reliability needed to support high-standard pulmonary function services. Educational/Vocational Qualifications – Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), or an equivalent qualification. Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills – Strong analytical and interpretative skills; ability to use computer-based applications for measurements, reporting and database management; high accuracy and reliability in independent work; effective teamwork; sensitive communication and patient motivation skills; and the ability to meet WHS and risk management requirements. Experience – Demonstrated experience in a pulmonary function or related physiology laboratory, with proven practical experience in respiratory measurement techniques. Knowledge – Sound understanding of human physiology, particularly respiration and exercise; and knowledge of Work Health and Safety principles and their application in a clinical or laboratory environment.
