Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.Join us and unearth your potential in a global company that is at the forefront of shaping the future of the mining industry.BenefitsWorking an 8:6 roster, you can FIFO from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village.On offer is an industry-competitive remuneration package that includes annual performance incentives, FIFO allowance, gold-level health insurance for employees and their families, employee benefits, and development opportunities offered by a global organisation.The OpportunityYou will be responsible for the integrity of Tanami’s Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and oversee the design, construction, operation and monitoring of the TSFs including serving as the Deputy Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer.The role assists in the management of the tailings production requirements and strategies for paste backfill to fulfil medium and long term mine plans.You will also assist with the water management of tailings and water systems and associated processing water systems, to achieve conformance with water stewardship commitments.Key AccountabilitiesHealth & SafetyResponsible for the safe management of the TSF(s) and other site dams, including performing TSF safety inspections (e.g. daily & fortnightly) to ensure TSF integrity.Maintain a site-specific Tailings Management System, comprising the key components for management and design of the TSF.Responsible for performance monitoring of the TSF and other site dams including leading site’s deployment of Canary.Responsible for completion of monthly critical control reporting.Provide oversight and support of EoR Dam Safety Inspections (DSI) with responsibility for implementing recommendations.Lead the implementation and development of site-specific critical controls and TARPs with responsibility to remedy any deviations from performance objectives or criteria.Identification of potential hazards and action that is appropriately taken.Operational ExcellenceContribute to the Implementation and conformance of the global industry voluntary standards for the site, including the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) and Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM).Effective liaison with the EoR to ensure that the TSF and other site dams are designed, constructed, operated and closed in accordance with safe and responsible practices, including review of all EoR deliverables.Responsible for review of geotechnical reports ,including but not limited to: geotechnical investigation reports, design reports, stability analysis, dam break analysis.Assist in the development and successful implementation of the OMS Manual(s), TSF Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and Trigger Actions Response Plans (TARPs).Responsible for ensuring that the TSF and other site dams are managed in accordance with the OMS Manual(s); lead annual review, updates, and training on the OMS; complete updates and training on the TSF ERP.Contribute to managing change with the TSF design, construction or operations.Lead coordination of third party reviews by ITRB or Senior Independent Technical Reviewers and actively participate. Contribute to timely implementation of recommendations and reporting status of completion.Maintain the Knowledge Base, which is a comprehensive repository of documentation supporting the planning/design/construction/operation/closure of the tailings facilities.Support strategies for tailings production for paste backfill, coordination with internal teams, review and updates of plans periodically.GrowthLead design and construction elements, including supporting development of the Construction Records Reports (CRRs).Support site life of mine tailings management plan/s to support the Business Plan.Responsible for ensuring TSF lifecycle is considered in all design and option studies for future TSF planning and progression through stages for current TSFs.Contribute to development and review of closure basis of design and closure design of TSFs.Ensure water management considerations are assessed with any material change to TSFs, operational throughput rates, deposition specifications, new facilities or changes to operating philosophies (process operations).PeopleContinue to develop personal and professional competency through training and participation in workshops, paper publications, presentations, etc. Ensure that effective communication and information sharing of information, task etc takes place in area of responsibility.Support provision of training to all levels of personnel involved with tailings management system (TMS)Perform all tasks in a professional manner and demonstrate Newmont ValuesMaintain good working relationships with superiors, peers and all internal as well as external clients, such as contractors, suppliers and service providers.Work collaboratively to achieve the desired result.Work closely with S&ER team/s to ensure TSF operation, design, construction, closure comply with regulatory requirements, permit conditions, Newmont standards and guidelines and jurisdiction guidelines.Contribute to stakeholder engagement to share knowledge on TSF management.Address actions stemming from risk assessments and mitigation plans, including supporting periodic review/updates (e.g., quarterly).Lead development of agendas and organization of participants for ITRBs and lead site (with support of the EoR) in addressing ITRB recommendations.Participate, contribute and demonstrate personal commitment to safe practice and environmental and social responsibility awareness.About YouTertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering or similarPost graduate experience in the industryExperience in a similar technical roleExperience, knowledge and competencies appropriate to the complexity of the TSF and associated risksProblem solver with excellent communication and team based skillsAdvanced PC skills and computer literacy with knowledge of financial and administrative processesApplications close on Sunday, 23 June 2024.
