Overview Times News Group is looking for a journalist to join its Ballarat team in a full-time role. Times News Group is seeking a journalist who loves community news, can cover a wide variety of topics with attention to detail and has a keen eye for photography. Interest in and knowledge of the greater Ballarat region is important, and candidates will need to live in the area or relocate here. Successful applicants will have a driver’s licence, a car, and be able to work weekends and public holidays. The Times News Group publishes weekly community newspapers including the Ballarat Times, Golden Plains Times, Bendigo Times, McIvor Times, Surf Coast Times, Bellarine Times, Geelong Times, Moorabool News and other local newspapers in Northern NSW & SA. We also provide access to and support for the Melbourne Business School's Digital News Academy, Google News Initiative activities, and other continuing professional development opportunities. We’re open to options for this job and will be considering graduates/cadets, and journalists with experience. Your application needs include your CV, a cover letter, and two examples of your newswriting (one hard, the other a little softer). Applicants must have work rights in Australia and agency applications are not being accepted for this position. Qualifications Reside in the Ballarat region or be willing to relocate. Driver’s licence and access to a car. Ability to work weekends and public holidays. Interest in and knowledge of the greater Ballarat region. Willingness to cover a wide variety of topics with attention to detail and a keen eye for photography. Graduates/cadets and journalists with experience are welcome. Work rights in Australia.
