About the Role As an After Hours Support Worker, you'll be a key figure in ensuring the safety and well‑being of young people during nighttime hours. This role is dynamic and requires you to be on‑call, ready to respond to critical incidents and provide immediate assistance when needed. You will be tasked with delivering phone support to youth workers across different residential care homes, guiding them through challenging situations, and offering practical advice to manage incidents effectively. In addition to phone support, you will be required to drive to various residential care homes to provide in‑person support, assess situations, and offer hands‑on assistance during after‑hours incidents. Your work will be focused on creating a secure, supportive environment where young people feel safe and empowered, even outside of regular working hours. Throughout your shift, you will be expected to handle high‑pressure situations with professionalism, compassion, and a strong commitment to safeguarding the well‑being of each individual. Your ability to remain calm and responsive in crisis situations will be essential to the role, making you a vital part of the overnight care team. As an After Hours Support Worker, we are seeking experienced youth workers. You will be on‑call to manage high‑pressure situations, offering guidance and, when necessary, traveling to care homes to provide in‑person support. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safety, well‑being, and independence of young people during nighttime hours, while fostering strong connections to their families and communities. Key selection criteria Minimum qualification requirements for this position is a Diploma of Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent. Aboriginal staff - a qualification is desirable but experience and willingness; to participate in training is essential. Demonstrated skills and experience in youth services, residential care or supported accommodation. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families. Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experience significant challenges and trauma. Key Responsibilities Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for young people. Assist in the development of independent living skills, empowering young people for the future. Ensure the safety and well‑being of young people by reporting any concerns promptly.
