Apprentice - Civil Construction Sutherland Shire Council (Sutherland Shire, New South Wales) is looking for a motivated apprentice for a four‑year apprenticeship within our Civil Works and Presentation team. This role offers hands‑on experience and the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Civil Construction. Position Overview This apprenticeship focuses on planned and reactive maintenance, restoration, and construction of civil assets such as roads and stormwater infrastructure. Your Day‑to‑Day Includes Working with concrete and asphalt. Excavation and concrete cutting. Limited plant operation. Traffic management and surveying. Key Responsibilities Follow Council’s Code of Conduct, policies, and relevant legislation. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Prioritise safety and report hazards promptly. Complete mandatory training within required timeframes. Demonstrate Council values in all interactions. Participate in performance reviews and take accountability for your role. Use Council resources responsibly and sustainably. Candidate Profile We’re looking for individuals who are eager to learn and committed to building a career in civil construction. Essential Completion of Year 10 Record of School Achievement. Ability to meet manual handling and physical requirements. Willingness to work outdoors and use trade‑related equipment. Genuine interest in civil construction. Desirable Class C driver’s licence. Benefits & Conditions Package: $43,024.80 gross per annum plus 12 % superannuation. Hours of work: Temporary full‑time, 38 hours per week with a 9‑day fortnight. 4‑year apprenticeship opportunity. Interview date: Interviews facilitated within 2 weeks of closing.
