The Visting Medical Officer, Oncologist will be a valued member of the Cancer Services department and will be required to offer expert multidisciplinary care in the field of Medical Oncology. Whilst the provision of expert, professional care is paramount in Cancer Services, there is also a strong focus on teaching, education and research.
The role will work in a multidisciplinary clinical environment with a team of nursing and medical staff including other Medical Oncologists, Medical Oncology Trainees of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), Hospital Medical Officer’s and students.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity.

  • A primary medical qualification registered or registrable with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians including advanced training and specialist recognition as a Medical Oncologist.
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • Meets the Credentialing and Scope of Practice requirements as defined by AWH, based on Department of Health’s
  • Credentialing and Defining the Scope of Clinical Practice for Medical Practitioners in Victorian Health Services.
  • Participation in the Continuing Medical Education program of the RACP that is required to maintain ongoing currency of specialist qualification and recognition by Medicare Australia as a specialist.
  • Effective communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in the public patient on-call roster.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of health and safety issues and of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation as it relates to “Employee” and “Employer” responsibilities.
  • Ability to develop and implement initiatives of continuous quality improvement within the designated area of work with a demonstrated customer focused approach to service delivery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and willingness to participate in Department / Ward Performance Management (Review) programs.
  • Awareness and understanding of Infection Control principles as they relate to the position’s designated area of work.

Employment Type: This is a Visting Medical Officer position - part time.
