What you'll be doing
  • The provisional fellowship in anaesthesia at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital has the unique ability to be structured in terms of candidate interest. The aim is to gain transthoracic echocardiogram experience over the year with encouragement to complete the Graduate Certificate in Ultrasound from Melbourne University concurrently. Transthoracic teaching will be provided by the Department of Cardiology throughout the year.
  • Other areas of interest can include perioperative medicine, anaesthesia for upper gastrointestinal surgery, a regional anaesthesia specialty year or a focus on teaching and/or safety.
  • As per ANZCA Provisional Fellowship requirements, a minimum of 10% will be allocated to non clinical time. This time can be focused towards study for the ultrasound qualification, audit work, teaching, departmental development or quality assurance.
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Minimum 4 years of clinical anaesthesia experience in an accredited training position recognised by the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
  3. Completed advanced training, preferably passed ANZCA final examinations.
  4. Demonstrated excellent clinical skills, judgement, communication and expertise.
  5. Demonstrated teamwork within a multidisciplinary team, time management and problem solving skills in a complex clinical environment.
  6. Commitment to an area of subspecialty or interest area throughout the year.
  7. Interest in departmental development through teaching and/or research.
