About The BUSY School… The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 45 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services. The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 9 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes. Our teams’ focus is centred at re‑engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12. Job Description The BUSY School is seeking qualified teachers for our relief teaching pool The Strathpine Campus is looking for Teachers to express interest in working as relief teachers. Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people in years 11 and 12 by providing them with support that increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes. BUSY BENEFITS: Competitive, casual day rate + 12.5% superannuation Impacting and changing the lives of youth to teenage in learning, remain eligible for a QCE and gain employment and further training outcomes Small classes ofmax. 16 students Collegial campus-based team of a Campus Principal, teachers, learning support, teacher aides, education youth workers, employment pathways, work readiness and administration officers, and additional student support from external providers, as required Access to employee assistance program (EAP ) Desired Skills and Experience ABOUT YOU Casual relief teaching staff are required to: Hold a Current QCT Registration Desirable experience and characteristics: Experience working with QCAA and QCE requirements, accountabilities and processes is preferable Motivated and genuine passion to work with disengaged youth and support students as part of holistic school team Experience and/or high level of understanding of trauma‑informed and restorative practices is desirable You have experience in developing and implementing a range of strategies to support diverse needs of students through differentiation, support and behaviour management strategies.
