Classroom Teacher - VCE English/Humanities Lakeview Senior College is located in Caroline Springs, approximately 20 kilometres west of Melbourne. The college is a government secondary school educating students from Years 10 to 12. The student population is around 955, offering an extensive selection of subjects at each year level. Location Profile Lakeview Senior College is located in the rapidly developing suburb of Caroline Springs, approximately 20 kilometres west of Melbourne. It is a government secondary school educating students from Years 10 to 12. Most graduates pursue further education or undertake professional, business or trade related training and employment. The college has a student population of around 955 in 2023. Courses for Young Adults Year 10 students study a broad range of subjects. Years 11 & 12 select either a VCE or VCE-VM course. The college partners with the Melton and Brimbank Clusters of Schools to offer a wider variety of VET courses. SC2 Experience planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies; evaluating impact on student learning growth. SC3 Experience monitoring and assessing student learning; using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback to students and parents. SC4 Interpersonal and communication skills; establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community. SC5 Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values; reflecting on practice; engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality. Role Classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges (range 1 and range 2). The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, and, as experience grows, contribute beyond the classroom. Range 1 Description Focus on developing skills to become an effective practitioner with structured support. Teachers plan and teach student groups, participate in induction programs, and support the integration of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy. They may supervise student teachers and assist in policy development and co‑curricular activities. Range 2 Description Assist the school in improving student performance and educational outcomes. Contribute to policy implementation, mentor/coach other teachers, provide expert advice on content and strategies, supervise and train student teachers, and use student data to inform teaching approaches. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups or individual students Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or programs Undertaking classroom teaching related and organisational duties as directed by the Principal Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions Undertaking other non‑teaching supervisory duties Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, qualified to teach, and/or have demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).
