Fixed term full-time up to 6 months with potential to extend Salary from $85,871 p.a. plus 12% superannuation Fieldwork and project planning for monitoring and conservation of the mallee emu-wren Zoos Victoria operates four landmark zoos, Healesville Sanctuary, Kyabram Fauna Park, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo. The organisation has a strong focus on preventing the extinction and promoting the recovery of Victoria's most threatened species through direct action, conservation campaigns, and education. This position sits within the Wildlife Conservation and Science unit and will support the implementation of actions for the endangered Mallee-emu wren. These activities will include, but are not limited to : Responsibilities Significant field research responsibilities in monitoring Mallee emu-wren in the wild, habitat assessments and site preparations for translocation Planning and implementation of wild-to-wild translocation of Mallee emu-wren, including project planning and coordination Contribution to the development and implementation of conservation action plans for the Mallee emu-wren and other threatened bird species where appropriate Ideal Candidate Significant experience in monitoring and/or research of wild bird populations Experience in planning and undertaking ecological fieldwork in remote areas Experience in ecological research design and survey data management, including survey use of GIS data Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders relevant to conservation activities Significant experience in project co-ordination and implementation, including coordinating other people For more information on this role, please refer to the position description below.
