Szechuan Kitchen is a well-loved Chinese restaurant known for bringing authentic Szechuan flavours to our local community. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Cook to join our busy and collaborative kitchen team. If you have a passion for bold spices, wok-cooking, and delivering consistently high-quality dishes, we would love to hear from you. What we offer : Competitive salary package Supportive and collaborative team environment A stable, long-term role in a reputable restaurant Opportunity to develop your skills in authentic Szechuan cuisine What you will do : Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes, including authentic Szechuan-style meals, ensuring all items meet our quality and presentation standards. Examine and evaluate food ingredients to ensure freshness, quality, and proper storage according to our standard of practice. Regulate and operate cooking equipment such as woks, fryers, steamers, grills, and ovens to maintain correct cooking temperatures. Season, flavour, portion, plate, and garnish dishes according to restaurant recipes and customer expectations. Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities and rotate stock to minimise waste. Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements, including allergy-friendly, vegetarian, or customised spice-level requests. Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organised kitchen, complying with all food safety and hygiene regulations. Assist with daily prep, cleaning, and general kitchen duties to support overall restaurant operations. Handle peak-time pressure while maintaining quality and speed. What you should have : Proven experience as a cook, ideally in a Chinese or Szechuan-style kitchen, or in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Strong understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene procedures, and safe equipment operation. Ability to work efficiently under pressure, especially during peak meal times. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Reliable, hardworking, and committed to consistent food quality. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays depending on business needs. Desired Skills and Attributes : Self-motivated with a passion for cooking and continuous improvement. Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills and recipes. Professional and friendly demeanour towards colleagues.
