About Cadia Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometres from Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold‑rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large‑scale underground mining method. We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience of our Indigenous employees. As a residential (drive‑in / drive‑out) mine, Cadia values community deeply, offering both financial and in‑kind support to organizations across Blayney, Cabonne, and Orange townships. About the role As the Specialist Environmental – Permitting and Projects, you will lead regulatory approvals and provide expert advice on environmental licensing, permitting, and compliance requirements. You’ll work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to deliver approvals that support operational excellence and uphold Newmont’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Your key responsibilities will include: Leading the coordination and delivery of environmental and planning approvals. Providing technical advice on regulatory requirements and risks. Managing project descriptions and supporting documentation for approval applications. Coordinating stakeholder engagement plans with internal and external stakeholders. Overseeing external environmental consultants and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Supporting legal and environmental teams in addressing regulatory matters. Monitoring compliance with approval conditions and developing action plans where required. We’re seeking a proactive environmental professional who thrives in a collaborative and fast‑paced environment. You will also possess the following: A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Planning, or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in environmental management or planning within the mining industry or state‑significant developments within NSW relative to heavy industry. Strong understanding of NSW and Commonwealth planning, mining and environmental legislation. Demonstrated experience in managing consultants, project budgets, and schedules. Proven ability in community and stakeholder engagement for environmental approvals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Please note: This permanent residential position will be based in Orange, New South Wales and will suit applicants currently living in Orange or near surrounds in Australia. It is envisaged the work pattern will be 5/2 or 5/2‑4/3 and applicants must have full and unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
