Executive Level 1 Risk Analyst

This senior position leads the development of a single, contemporary risk management framework for a nationally significant regulatory function. About the role Working under broad direction, the Executive Level 1 Risk Analyst will review existing risk practices, develop new policies and templates, uplift risk capability, and provide authoritative advice to branch leadership. You will work closely with internal risk teams, program areas and senior stakeholders to drive consistency, maturity and improvement in risk management across all activities. This is a strategic role with significant autonomy and visibility. Key responsibilities Design and implement a comprehensive branch-wide risk management framework. Develop, review and maintain risk policies, procedures, templates and tools. Lead and manage risk-related projects across multiple business units. Prepare high-quality documentation, advice and reports for senior stakeholders. Build strong, productive relationships with key internal partners and technical teams. Monitor emerging risks, trends and best practice to support continuous improvement. Promote a strong risk culture and uplift capability across the branch. Demonstrate behaviour aligned with APS values, WHS responsibilities and the APS Code of Conduct. About you You will bring: Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise or branch-level risk frameworks in a government, regulatory or complex operational environment. Experience leading projects or initiatives involving multiple teams or business areas. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex risk concepts. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability. Ability to build collaborative relationships with senior leaders and specialist teams. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and operational contexts. Australian Citizenship (mandatory). Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance (mandatory). Qualifications in risk, governance, law, policy, science or project management are desirable.
