Head of Pre-Sales and Estimating

As Head of Pre‑Sales & Estimating, you will lead a national pre‑sale, estimating, and technical consultancy function across Australia and New Zealand. This senior, strategic role is responsible for setting standards, governance, and commercial discipline across all bids, tenders, proposals, and quotes—ensuring Rauland’s solutions are competitive, achievable, and aligned to business objectives. Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial, you’ll partner closely with Sales, Projects, Finance, Product, Technology, and Delivery teams to translate opportunity into winning, well‑scoped solutions. You’ll shape estimating strategy, develop high‑performing teams, and play a critical role in enabling sustainable growth across complex, solution‑led healthcare environments. What you will be responsible for Lead and standardise national pre‑sales and estimating strategy, pricing frameworks, and governance Ensure accuracy, consistency, and commercial alignment across all bids, tenders, proposals, and quotes Develop and maintain cost plans, benchmarks, and estimating models using market data and historical performance Lead and develop senior estimators, estimators, and technical consultants, optimising capability and capacity nationally Partner with Sales and Project Operations to validate scope, risk, margin, and delivery feasibility prior to submission Lead client discovery and internal collaboration to shape compelling, technically sound solutions Identify commercial risks and value‑engineering opportunities to strengthen win probability Contribute to win strategy, tender positioning, and sales enablement activities including presentations and demonstrations Champion continuous improvement of estimating systems, tools, and processes Represent Rauland as a trusted technical and commercial partner in customer engagements Measure and report pre‑sales performance including win rate, turnaround time, and estimate accuracy Role‑model leadership behaviours and deliver people processes including performance, development, and succession planning Support governance, compliance, quality, WHS, and Go‑To‑Market initiatives What we’re looking for Proven experience leading national pre‑sales or estimating functions within complex, project‑based or solution‑led environments Strong track record delivering commercially competitive bids, tenders, proposals, and feasibility assessments Deep commercial acumen with expertise in pricing strategy, margin optimisation, and risk management Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional collaboration across Sales, Projects, Finance, Procurement, and Technology Experience implementing estimating standards, governance frameworks, and cost benchmarking Strong leadership capability with experience developing high‑performing, geographically distributed teams Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar Postgraduate business or commercial qualification (desirable) Professional certifications in estimating, project or cost management (advantageous) Willingness to travel across Australia and New Zealand as required Why Us?
