Overview Join to apply for the Team Leader (Co-Responder) role at Queensland Government . The role of Team Leader is to supervise a team of professional staff across Mount Isa to ensure the provision of high quality and culturally appropriate services to children and young people, their families and communities, with the aim of preventing offending and reducing re-offending. The Co-Responders work collaboratively as part of the Co-Responder Team comprising staff from the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support and the Queensland Police Service (QPS). The team provides support and coordinates service delivery to ensure required actions and referrals for young people at risk are undertaken in a timely and efficient manner. Co-Responder Teams work with dedicated QPS officers in unmarked police cars and in the office to connect with young people and families, patrol hotspots and link with internal and external stakeholders. Mandatory Requirements Drivers' license: Must hold an unrestricted “C” Class driver’s licence and be required to drive government vehicles as part of day‑to‑day work. Regulated employment: Requires a valid Blue Card linked with the organisation prior to starting. Willingness to travel within the region for site visits and other regional/departmental offices; may include overnight stays. Ability to provide a referee who is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to attest to cultural capabilities. Responsibilities Provide leadership, supervision and professional development to staff and oversee the use of evidence‑based skills, programs and processes associated with re‑offending reduction. Support team members providing outreach services in collaboration with QPS, including responses to critical incidents, complex situations and suicide risk management. Allocate, prioritise, perform and quality assure individual tasks in accordance with departmental procedures and statutory, financial and administrative delegations. Participate in professional development and maintain knowledge of contemporary evidence‑based practice in working with young offenders. Provide timely advice and assistance on complex matters to ensure quality youth justice casework and restorative justice practices. Participate as a member of the youth justice co‑responder management team and contribute to strategic and operational planning, reviews and key decision‑making. Develop collaborative, professional relationships with Youth Justice Service Centre and other internal and external stakeholders. Work with relevant colleagues and QPS to enhance the 24/7 Youth Co‑Responder Team model, as required. Oversee data capturing, reporting progress to line managers and evaluate client outcomes. Identify trends and issues in client service delivery and support coordinated local service delivery. Promote a departmental culture that ensures sensitive and effective communication with people from other cultures, including First Nations people, and respect cultural protocols. Collaborate with police to provide after‑hours outreach response to identify alternatives to arrest and custody for young people. Demonstrate cultural capability and commitment to human rights and community partnership aims. Application Details Applications remain open for 12 months.
