Join to apply for the SES Band 2, First Assistant Secretary role at Commonwealth Treasury 1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicants About First Assistant Secretary Roles (SES Band 2) Treasury is seeking dynamic senior executives at the SES Band 2 level with demonstrated aptitude, enthusiasm, and leadership skills to drive Australia’s economic agenda and to manage, develop, and advise on policies supporting the effectiveness and sustainability of Australia’s economic environment. First Assistant Secretaries (SES Band 2) play a vital role in the delivery of Treasury’s purpose. You will leverage your excellent leadership and collaboration skills to set the strategic direction for your division. You will possess exceptional stakeholder engagement capability and capacity to work effectively with the Executive, Ministers and key internal and external stakeholders. Drawing on your proven professional or senior executive management experience, you will be comfortable operating in a multi‑disciplinary, diverse and changeable environment. You will be responsible for leading a division including people, governance, financial and risk management and will actively contribute to the overall culture and purpose of the Treasury by supporting the Deputy Secretary / Director General. Experience exceptional leadership skills in building and developing high performing and diverse teams; well‑developed judgement and strategic thinking skills that enable you to effectively manage a broad range of work streams, analyse matters from a range of perspectives, and anticipate issues to develop and drive a forward agenda; extensive experience in managing the development and implementation of policies and programs that are complex and of high importance; experience in providing trusted and influential advice and analysis, including collaborating and harnessing expertise from a variety of sources; exceptional communication skills; the highest levels of professionalism, integrity and stewardship; an ability to develop productive and collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders, inside and outside of government; an ability to represent the Treasury and the Australian Government in a range of forums both domestically and internationally; and an ability to thrive under pressure and effectively perform in a fast‑paced and changing environment. Desirable Qualifications Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field including but not limited to, economics, accounting, taxation, law, public policy, business and commerce is highly desirable.
