Classroom Teacher - Generalist Primary/Health/Performing Arts Creekside K-9 College, opened in 2006 as a campus of Caroline Springs College, serves 1,350 students from Prep to Year 9 and offers a Kindergarten and a Maternal Health Unit. Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to student learning needs. SC2 Experience planning and implementing high‑impact teaching strategies, guided by student learning and evaluating their impact on growth. SC3 Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice and providing feedback to students and parents. SC4 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community. SC5 Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality. Role The classroom teacher class comprises two salary ranges, each with distinct responsibilities. The primary focus in both ranges is the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes, with critical reflection and inquiry to improve engagement and learning. Range 2 teachers assist in improving student performance, contribute to policy development, and mentor other teachers. Key duties include: Meeting diverse student needs through content knowledge and pedagogical practice. Modelling exemplary practice and coaching peers. Providing expert advice on learning, processes and strategies. Supervising and training student teachers. Using student data to inform instruction and achieve learning outcomes. Range 1 teachers focus on classroom management, subject content and teaching practice, receiving structured support from senior teachers. Responsibilities include teaching own classes, assisting in policy development, and participating in induction and professional learning activities. Responsibilities Direct teaching of student groups and individuals. Contributing to curriculum development, implementation and evaluation. Undertaking additional classroom teaching and organisational duties as directed by the Principal. Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, and school activities such as camps and excursions. Performing supervisory duties unrelated to teaching when required. Who May Apply Registered or eligible teachers with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, qualified to teach or with demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) for the position. Completion of an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, with evidence of a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program as per the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership standards. For graduates of a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme after 1 July 2016, proof of passing the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) if required by the programme.
