About the role The Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Manager will be responsible for leading the clinical team to ensure effective coordination and efficient management of the IPAC service, including professional, human and financial aspects. This key role will work in collaboration to oversee the provision of governance, and systems for infection prevention and control, public health, and surveillance to prevent, control and minimise the risk to patients of healthcare associated infections. The Manager will promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in the IPAC team, holding a leadership position and accountability that aligns with Eastern Health's Clinical Governance and Operational Management structure. The Manager will act as a clinical nursing resource and clinical advisor, both to the IPAC clinical team, key stakeholders and to the wider Eastern Health service providers and stakeholders, where you will be expected to build and maintain strong, positive, robust relationships with internal, and external key stakeholders. The Manager will provide guidance to and support developmental opportunities for the IPAC team members as well as being responsible for developing and managing the service, within allocated financial and operational requirements, and have a strong focus on improvement. The Manager will possess an authoritative knowledge and expertise related to IPAC and Preventing and Controlling Infections of the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHS) Standards (Std 3), and will work closely with the Deputy Director of Operations, Director of Infectious Diseases and the Clinical Risk Manager Std 3 to ensure IPAC requirements related to the standard are met. About you To be successful in this role you will possess: Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) via AHPRA Post-graduate qualifications in Infection Prevention and Control Approximately 5 years ‘experience in IPAC with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and complex professional workforce Experience in leadership of staff, with demonstrated capacity to conduct supervision and performance management discussions with staff to provide coaching, mentoring or peer support Current accredited Nurse Immuniser Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and implement service delivery initatives to specialist areas which promotes quality patient care and optimum organisational outcomes Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
