Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer , which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence . Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. We currently have an opportunity for a Security Analyst in Canberra to work on COSPO projects. What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Communication & Information Flow : Ensuring consistent communication and effective information sharing across project team channels. System Accreditation & Security Artefacts : Delivery of System Accreditation Plan, SRMP, SOA, SSP, and SOPs. Risk Management & Compliance : Preparation and maintenance of Security Risk Management Plan and Statement of Applicability. Incident Response & Security Architecture : Contribution to IT security architecture analysis/design and Incident Response Plan development. System Documentation : Supporting creation and maintenance of the System Overview Document (SOD). What You’ll Bring Core Qualifications : Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience transferable to security. Security Certifications : Desirable credentials such as IRAP, CISSP, CISM, or ISO27001:2013 Lead Auditor. Security Assurance Expertise : Demonstrated ability to conduct assurance activities against ISM and related frameworks, including preparation of artefacts (SRMP, SOA, SSP, SOD, SOPs, IRP). Analytical & Independent Work Skills : Strong conceptual and analytical abilities with proven capacity to deliver assurance outcomes under limited supervision. Government & Defence Experience : Background in Australian government/Defence projects, agile-based security assurance delivery, threat modelling, and executive-level briefing. Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
