Job Description Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position With over 60 years’ experience and 16 dealerships across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales, O’Connors continues to play a pivotal role in the Australian agricultural landscape. O’Connors is seeking an experienced and self‑motivated Assistant Accountant to join their friendly team of professionals at Bendigo, Victoria. Responsibilities Prepare financial statements and finalise end‑of‑month and end‑of‑year accounts. Allocate revenue and expenses to the correct general ledger, perform reconciliations, and update books via ERP daily. Coordinate the processing, confirmation and settlement of intercompany transactions, including reviewing the accuracy of intercompany charges. Oversee stock takes, resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate inventory records and financial reporting. Monitor fixed asset registers, update depreciation schedules and assist with asset revaluation processes. Ensure accurate classification and financial reporting of leases, including calculation of right‑of‑use assets and lease liabilities under IFRS 16. Coordinate with the US finance team to produce accurate segment reports and performance scorecards, ensuring alignment on financial data and KPIs. Prepare for month‑end closing by resolving accounting discrepancies, recording journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and fixed‑asset depreciation and amortisation. Prepare monthly account schedules (e.g., prepayment and accrued schedules) and conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Develop budgets and forecasts, and prepare periodic reports comparing actual costs to budgeted expenses. Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements. Prepare treasury reports, including cash‑flow forecasts, debt management and investment performance, to support financial decision‑making. Implement and maintain internal accounting controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Support internal and external audits by providing account analyses and necessary documentation. Qualifications At least 5 years’ work experience in the same field. Knowledge of various accounting software. Intermediate MS Excel skills. Excellent organisational and detail‑orientation skills. Strong communication and reporting skills. Self‑motivated, highly organised, punctual and reliable. Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced work environment and work independently or as part of a team. Great work ethics.
