Position Information

Robert Townson High School (FOEI 125) services the communities of Raby, Bow Bowing, Varroville and St Andrews. Our school celebrates diversity, including approximately 30 students within our Hearing Impairment Unit as well as students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. We have approximately 800 students with 42% of the school population from English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) backgrounds and 50 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

We have students represent Robert Townson High School across the local and regional areas as well as occasionally across the State in sporting, cultural and academic competitions. The school undertook external validation in 2023 and through collaboration and consultation, developed a new Strategic Improvement Plan which commenced in Term 2 2024. Our strategic directions are Student Growth and Attainment, A Culture of High Expectations and Aspiration and A Highly Effective Professional Learning Community.

This is a Languages other than English position, which is part of the Creative and Performing Arts/Languages Faculty. The successful candidate will teach mandatory language (Stage 4). There is currently a Year 11 French Beginners class.

Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach French (7-12)
  2. Capacity to develop authentic, engaging and inclusive teaching and learning programs and assessments which meet the needs of a diverse learning community.
  3. Evidence of effective classroom management to promote a supportive and positive learning environment.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to effectively use technology and explicit teaching methods to deliver high quality teaching and learning.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
