THE ROLE Downer's Power Projects team is looking for a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to oversee the design delivery of major energy infrastructure projects. Based in our Collins Street office, this role is crucial for coordinating multi‑disciplinary design teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from planning and engineering to construction support and project close‑out. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and clients to ensure technical excellence, foster innovation, and maintain compliance with Downer's Engineering Delivery Model. Some of the key responsibilities include: Lead and manage design delivery for complex power and utility projects. Coordinate internal design disciplines and external subconsultants to meet scope, cost, and schedule targets. Ensure quality assurance, safety in design, and compliance with Downer standards. Oversee design risk management, reporting, and change control. Drive value engineering, continuous improvement, and design innovation. ABOUT YOU You are a technically skilled and commercially savvy leader with a passion for delivering high‑quality design results. You possess a deep understanding of power engineering, a collaborative approach, and proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams on large infrastructure or renewable energy projects. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (CPEng / MIEAust desirable). Proven track record of managing design on major power or infrastructure projects, either in design management or on the tools design. Proven ability to manage design scope, budgets, and program alignment. Strong leadership across multi‑disciplinary design and engineering teams.
