About The Role Lifeguards supervise and oversee guests in aquatic locations, acting immediately to ensure safety in emergencies, providing water rescue, first aid, administering oxygen, emergency care, and treatment as required. They enforce safety rules, monitor swimmer activities, maintain exceptional guest service, and assist guests with attractions safely. Position options: Lifeguard, Junior Lifeguard, and Shallow Water Lifeguard, depending on age and swimming ability. Roles & Responsibilities Provide constant supervision of the general public, prioritizing guest safety at all times. Ensure all aquatic and attraction areas are always supervised and that all policies and procedures are followed. Adhere to the Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP) protocols and training standard. Enforce the park’s Keep Watch policy, ensuring children are supervised by a parent or guardian. Deliver high‑quality service to all visitors. Complete Dispatch Smart training by Alive Solutions and follow all attraction operating procedures, restrictions, and guidelines. Identify problems, exercise authority in dealing with the general public, and communicate serious matters to the Head Guard. Relay accurate information and advice to guests in a pleasant, helpful manner. Listen to guests and offer options to meet their needs. Ensure all guests and team members abide by policies and procedures determined by management. Apply rescue and resuscitation techniques and administer first aid when required. Attend and participate in all in‑service training sessions. Report any faults that arise during the day and monitor technical equipment for failures or required maintenance. Assist with opening and closing procedures and maintain the park’s clean and tidy presentation. Assist with general cleaning of the park and grounds as directed, including sweeping, rubbish pick‑up, clearing and cleaning tables, emptying bins, maintaining picnic areas, birthday & cabana areas, work areas, and restrooms; assist with pressure washing as required. Carry out duties and responsibilities assigned by the Head Guard, Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager, Director of Operations, or other management team members. Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Follow and comply with WHS policies, procedures, and guidelines. Correctly use all safety and personal protective equipment. Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours. Report WHS incidents, injuries, and safety activities to your direct manager and First Aid immediately. Promote proactive hazard/near‑miss reporting to your manager and the People & Culture Director. Attend Work Group Meetings to discuss and promote safety. Requirements Education – Essential Ellis & Associates Lifeguard License (training provided by Raging Waters Sydney). Dispatch Smart Training (training provided by Raging Waters Sydney). Current Working with Children Check.  Languages Fluent English. Skills Lead by example. Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills. Familiar with the principles of quality customer service. Handle various equipment. Plan, prioritise and organise work both individually and in a team environment, within a set timetable and amid competing demands. Apply logical thinking to solve difficult problems. Experience – Desirable Experience working within a Water Park environment. Experience working in the Aquatics Industry. External: Guests / Contractors / Suppliers / Business Partners. Organization / Other Comments Must be 16 years of older for Junior Lifeguard; 18 years or older for Lifeguard. Must be physically fit with a professional, enthusiastic attitude and appearance. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and public holidays. Must be available to work a minimum of twice per week during the peak season. Adhere to the Company Code of Conduct policy; represent the company well internally and externally; convey a professional and positive image of the organization. Work in all weather conditions, sun and rain, hot and cold climates, indoor and outdoor. Carry out duties assigned by your direct manager or any member of the management team. Adhere to the Employee Handbook. Swimming Requirements Shallow water lifeguards: swim 50 metres freestyle or backstroke without resting. Lifeguards: swim 200 metres freestyle or backstroke without resting. All lifeguards: perform a feet‑first surface dive up to 1.8 metres to retrieve a 5kg brick. All lifeguards: tread water without using arms for two minutes. Smoking in the workplace is allowed in designated smoking areas only, where permitted by applicable legislation. Physical fitness requirements include walking, carrying, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, squatting, sitting, standing, twisting, and repetitive movement.
