About the roleThe Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC Level 2) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence-based practice. The CNC will promote a service that fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes.

This permanent part-time 24 hours per week role is pivotal in maintaining HammondCare’s commitment to upholding stringent infection prevention and control standards across its diverse range of healthcare facilities and services. The successful candidate will lead efforts to prevent and manage healthcare-associated infections, implement evidence-based practices, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement in infection control measures. The role will be based at Braeside Hospital for one day each week, with two days working between Greenwich and Neringah Hospitals.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, infection control practitioners, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals will be paramount, and you will beresponsible for providing services that facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

Responsibilities include policy development, staff education and training, surveillance, outbreak investigation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Essential Criteria

Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare's Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) & at least 5 years of full-time equivalent post-registration experience.

Approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.

Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty

Ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs

Capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise

Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidence-based nursing care

Understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace

A current driver's license and willingness to travel between HammondCare's sites and services.
