About the Role The Reconciliation Advisor - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships will take the lead in developing and implementing the outcomes of Council’s ‘Reflect’ Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The role will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to proactively develop strategies for reconciliation initiatives, enhance Council's connections with community and build cultural awareness and engagement. Who We're Looking For A strong understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Islander peoples, cultures and issues. Possession of a degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Business or Administration or similar discipline from a recognised university or a combination of experience, expertise and competence, which enables you to perform all the duties of the position. Demonstrated experience in developing a cultural program or RAP and working with an organisation to improve cultural practices. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to share, deliver and promote cultural awareness initiatives. Demonstrated experience working and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships. The ability to provide specialist advice and recommendations to leadership on emerging trends and needs relevant to Council services and responsibilities. Experience in developing and implementing inclusive policies and procedures and remaining up-to-date with relevant legislation and contemporary practices. Excellent organisation skills with the ability to use initiative and judgement and prioritise competing work tasks. A personal alignment with Council’s values, particularly the value of respect. For this position, it is a genuine occupational requirement that it is filled by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person as set out in section 7 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1991 for the purposes contained in Section 25 of the Act. What We Offer A permanent full-time position, based in the Toowoomba CBD. The salary range for this position is $102,286.02 - $109,044.83 gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
