Clean-Up Driver

FairfieldCity Council’s Waste & Cleansing department is currently seeking 4x full-time Clean-Up Drivers / Offsiders to join our dedicated team. This role is critical in delivering high-quality waste services to our community and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of Fairfield City. As a Clean-Up Driver / Offsider, you will: Operate waste compaction vehicles efficiently and safely Undertake clean-up collection services across residential and commercial areas Supervise assigned staff members to ensure smooth operations Perform relief driving duties for domestic waste and recycling side-load collection vehicles when required Assist with various waste streams including garbage, recycling, FOGO, and illegal dumping collection Take ownership of plant and equipment by conducting daily safety checks, cleaning, and reporting maintenance needs Complete required documentation such as logbooks, weighbridge tickets, and safety checklists accurately and on time Work collaboratively within a team to meet service level requirements and deliver excellent customer service. This is a hands‑on role that requires physical fitness, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. ABOUT YOU: To be successful in this role, you will need: A current HR Class Driver's licence (must remain valid at all times) Previous experience in a similar environment or role Demonstrated ability to work safely and follow WHS procedures Physical capability to perform manual handling duties A strong customer service focus and reliability. Ability to read and follow route maps and instructions. Willingness to work across all waste streams and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to work variable hours within the span of 4:00 am to 5:00 pm, including public holidays and weekends when required Preparedness to provide an RTA driving history transcript The following qualifications and experience are considered advantageous for this role: Demonstrated driving and labouring experience preferably in rear loader collection and side load collection vehicle residential waste/recycling collection SALARY & EMPLOYMENTCONDITIONS: Permanent full‑time position, working 76 hours per fortnight This position is a Grade B+, with an annual salary of $89,210.44 plus superannuation Uniform provided Limited leave approvals during peak season (November — March) Overtime may be required during peak periods (penalty rates apply) Fairfield City Council offers a great working environment, where your career development and work life balance matters.
