Your day as a Senior Solicitor Your typical day‑to‑day work includes providing expert legal advice, practical and matter‑management support on a broad range of legal and legislative matters to support Treasury operations, principally in relation to Commercial and Procurement matters. This role will primarily support the Commercial Group, including NSW Procurement, and the Strategic Balance Sheet Management team across a wide range of commercial matters and projects under the supervision of a Principal Solicitor. The Commercial Group is responsible for commercial policy development, infrastructure and structured finance. It manages the State’s shareholding in its commercial business, major asset transactions, and analysis and review of the State’s commercial assets, liabilities and activities. NSW Procurement implements innovative, outcomes driven approaches to government procurement to maximise value for money and make it easier to do business with government. The team is responsible for various whole‑of‑government contracts, establishing and reviewing procurement policies, whole of government prequalification schemes, and the NSW Government tendering and parts of the website. The Strategic Balance Sheet Management team ensures the long‑term financial, environmental and social sustainability of New South Wales through the management of financial assets, liabilities and risks. It oversees the management of strategic investment funds including the New South Wales Generations Fund and Social and Affordable Housing Fund, gives guidance on funding solutions and debt management, and supports an ambitious agenda in the areas of Sustainable Finance and Social Impact Investment. This role liaises extensively with other areas within Treasury, with NSW government agencies and equivalents in other jurisdictions across Australia, and with external stakeholders. Achieve success as a Senior Solicitor In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW. You will be successful in this role if you have: Admitted as a legal practitioner and holding a current practising certificate. Strong experience in the provision of legal services, including providing legal advice, input into legal and governance policy and drafting legal documentation. Demonstrated experience in administrative, commercial, procurement, regulatory law. Demonstrated knowledge or familiarity of legislation, case law and other precedents, particularly in the above areas of law. Demonstrated experience in delivering timely and relevant legal services in a high‑volume complex environment. Highly desirable if you have demonstrated experience working for large legal organisations or NSW Government in a similar position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
