The Role As a 2nd or 3rd year Heavy Commercial Truck Mechanic Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy vehicles. Under the guidance of our qualified mechanics, you will gain practical experience in: Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults: Using both traditional methods and advanced diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues in heavy trucks (e.g., engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, electrical circuits). Performing routine maintenance and servicing: Conducting inspections, oil changes, lubrication, and general servicing to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and operating efficiently. Repairing and replacing components: Assisting with the dismantling, repair, and reassembly of engine assemblies, transmissions, differentials, and other heavy vehicle components. Brake and clutch repairs: Learning to inspect, service, and repair various braking systems (air and hydraulic) and clutches. Electrical system repairs: Developing skills in fault‑finding and repairing complex electrical systems in modern trucks. Adhering to safety standards: Working safely and diligently, following all workplace health and safety procedures. Maintaining detailed records: Assisting with the accurate recording of all maintenance and repair activities. What We're Looking For Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice in a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent). A strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine passion for heavy vehicles. Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to work. Good problem‑solving and diagnostic skills. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment. Basic understanding of workshop safety procedures. Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
