Position Overview The Data and Digital Group provides the data, technology and digital services to enable the delivery of outstanding customer experiences. The Water Data Services Team provides data services, guidance and support to uplift the Bureau's data maturity as part the Data Program in the Data and Digital Group. The team specifically fulfils the Bureau's responsibility to ingest and manage water data under the Water Act 2007 and the Water Regulations 2008 . The Senior Hydrogeology Specialist will report to Manager Water Data Services (EL2L). The Senior Hydrogeology Specialist must have sound technical groundwater data management knowledge and an excellent working knowledge of groundwater data flows and operational groundwater data management systems, including data transfer formats, databases, and data integration. Knowledge and experience of hydrogeological concepts and experience with groundwater time series and spatial data and metadata are essential. In addition to technical expertise, the Senior Hydrogeology Specialist must have strong management, leadership and stakeholder management skills. The position is a leader within a small team of hydrogeology data specialists who work collaboratively to ensure groundwater data is received, ingested, processed and supplied to meet groundwater customer requirements, including maintaining and updating the datasets that underpin the Bureau's groundwater products. The position will require well developed communications skills, systems, data, problem solving and quality management skills. Effective communication and stakeholder liaison skills are essential in maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners and data providers. The Senior Hydrogeology Specialist will work closely with internal stakeholders from Community Services Group (CSG) and Business Solutions Group (BSG), in particular, to ensure groundwater data is suitable for use in products and services. Role responsibilities The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Leading the ingestion, standardisation, processing, management, and delivery of groundwater data to meet the Bureau's obligations under the Water Act 2007 and Water Regulations 2008, support Bureau products and satisfy customer needs. Overseeing groundwater data systems including databases and workflows for managing time series data, metadata and spatial data. Leading the development and improving groundwater data processes to enhance data quality, timeliness, resilience, and operational effectiveness. Leading the preparation and review of processes and documentation including delivery of training on these processes to ensure operational resilience. Building strong and productive relationships with internal and external groundwater data stakeholders, including data providers, to ensure requirements are understood and data is fit for purpose. Communicating (both oral and written) complex technical groundwater information to diverse audiences. Providing leadership within a small team of hydrogeology data specialists to deliver groundwater data services on time to a high standard. Monitoring program and team level key performance indicators and manage any risks to delivery. Demonstrating commitment to APS Values, Code of Conduct, including Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
