We are seeking a seasoned, technically skilled Senior Network Monitoring Specialist to join our Network Engineering team. This role centres on monitoring, analysis, reporting, and performance tuning to ensure top‑tier network performance, availability, reliability, integrity, and usability. You’ll develop advanced monitoring tools, troubleshoot complex performance issues, analyse traffic, and deliver capacity planning solutions—while aligning with IT Service Management practices and participating in after‑hours on‑call as needed. Monitor and analyse traffic and congestion across network routes and links; produce regular and ad hoc management reports, dashboards, and insights for leadership. Proactively resolve network quality, service degradation, and capacity issues with action plans or escalation as required. Contribute to performance, capability, and availability plans; design testing strategies; and document performance metrics (KPIs) such as availability, utilisation, throughput, goodput, and latency. Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to define targets, thresholds, and measurement frameworks; help select and develop performance and quality management tools for current and future technologies. Maintain accurate records, ensure timely communications, and foster strong stakeholder relationships to enable seamless ICT delivery and high‑quality project outcomes in line with the IT Directorate’s methodology. Sustain service integrity while supporting strategic initiatives in a large‑scale, complex environment with internal and external suppliers. Senior‑level experience in network engineering with a focus on monitoring, analytics, and performance tuning. Proven ability to develop monitoring tools, perform traffic analysis, and deliver capacity planning solutions. Strong collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders. Demonstrated track record of delivering in line with ITSM practices and project management frameworks. Ability to work in a dynamic, large‑scale environment and manage after‑hours on‑call requirements. Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
