Staff / Lead Data Engineer (Oracle, AWS)

See yourself in our team: The Data Provisioning and Enrichment team provides data delivery, insights and software delivery outcomes to support Finance Risk and Treasury businesses. We support the Group's strategy of building tomorrow's bank today for our customers, through a focus on three key priorities of trust, resilience and capital generation. You will be a part of the Mobile and Modernisation Crew, which is responsible for: Design and delivery of a fully secure mobile customer interface and payment system Migration and transformation of data from legacy Oracle Database to Cloud Databases (AWS and others) Overseeing the delivery of all data outcomes to support payments So much more…. We are interested in hearing from people who: Have built or worked on building out data warehouses or data lakes Have In-depth knowledge of Oracle Databases (COMMSEE/COMMBIZ experience would be a bonus) Are familiar with the full software development lifecycle with a focus on data extraction/ingestion processing, data transformation pipelines, data integration and visualisation Understand data profiling, basics of numerical statistics and data quality calculations Has experience in handling large-scale data processing and analytics Can provide code quality control through peer programming, code review and automated pipeline release management Have strong problem solving and analytical skills Are experienced in end to end application design Can coach junior engineers, share knowledge to uplift and improve software development practices Technical Skills: Large and complex Oracle Relational Database experience ETL and DataLake experience Are proficient in languages such as Python and SQL ETL Development: Design, Develop and implement ETL processes using appropriate toolsets In-depth knowledge of AWS services, especially related to data storage and processing such as S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, Glue, Athena, EMR, Spark Knowledge of data architectures such as data vault 2.0 Understanding how AI can be used to solve real-world problems through data pipelines and machine learning lifecycle management Pipeline Design Building scalable and efficient data pipelines that support AI model training and inference AI-Enhanced Automation Leveraging AI agents to automate and accelerate engineering tasks (highly desirable experience with effective use of Model Context Protocols (MCPs) and automation for DevSecOps) Working with us Whether you're passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career with CommBank is for you.
