Overview Classroom Teacher VET Construction – Cherry Creek at Parkville College delivers education across Cherry Creek, Parkville Youth Justice Precincts, and Secure Care Units. Parkville College is a registered specialist school providing high-quality educational programs for young people aged 10-21 in custody with the Department of Justice and Community Safety and secure services with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. The model follows a culturally responsive pedagogy with strong local partnerships, offering the Victorian Curriculum (Foundation-10), Senior Secondary Certificates (VCE, VM and VPC) and vocational studies. Teachers are flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances, which may include working on units when classrooms are unavailable and engaging in outreach across multiple units. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges—range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, and may undertake other duties appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience. As experience grows, teachers may contribute beyond the classroom, including assisting with school policies, programs and other responsibilities as required. Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students. Contributing to development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program. Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal. Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions. Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position. The successful candidate must hold a current and valid Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Permission To Teach registration issued by the Victorian Institute of Teaching, and a minimum of a Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship or equivalent qualification. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check. A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment with induction and support programs.
