Associate Director - Workplace Relations Advisory As an Associate Director in KPMG’s Workplace Relations Advisory team, you’ll work across a diverse range of clients and industries to deliver tailored solutions that address complex workforce and industrial relations challenges. Your work will span industrial environment assessments, including awards, enterprise agreements, union relationships, and workforce demographics; the design of consultation and communication frameworks that meet industrial relations obligations while supporting organisational change; and the development of enterprise agreement strategies aligned with future workforce needs. You’ll also support wage compliance reviews by interpreting industrial instruments and identifying risks, provide subject‑matter expertise on broader transformation projects such as restructures and mergers, and collaborate with consulting colleagues on initiatives involving change management, communications, and workforce capability uplift. Typical Examples of Work Current state assessments of an organisation’s industrial environment (awards, enterprise agreements, union relationships, and employee demographics). Stakeholder consultation and communication frameworks that meet industrial relations requirements while winning people’s hearts and minds. Developing enterprise agreement strategies : long‑term strategies, negotiation and campaign planning, and tactical alignment with workforce needs. Supporting wage compliance reviews by providing key industrial‑relations intelligence (classifications, instrument clause interpretation, common pitfalls). Providing subject‑matter expertise for KPMG projects such as restructures, mergers, acquisitions, demergers, and payroll system configurations. Working closely with consulting colleagues on broader transformational change assignments. How Are You Extraordinary? Your Experience Understands Australian industrial relations, including the Fair Work Act, national employment standards, modern awards, enterprise agreements and the interaction of state systems, and key stakeholders (employees, FWC, FWO, unions, employer associations). Can translate industrial relations into practical, actionable advice. Can lift themselves out of detail to see the bigger picture of how industrial relations impacts clients, business, employees and regulators. Shows interest in broadening expertise beyond industrial relations (communications, engagement, change management, learning and development, talent management). Proficient in the MS Word suite and willing to learn PowerPoint and Excel. Has high attention to detail. Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in employment law (no legal qualification required), HR, or industrial relations.
