Drawing on our heritage as part of the Avant Mutual Group, Australia’s leading medical organisation with over 130 years of history, Avant Law has supported more than 2,000 clients, by delivering specialised commercial legal advice across the medical, health and broader business sectors. We are seeking an ambitious lawyer who is looking for growth opportunities, to join our Perth team on a permanent, full-time basis . The role reports to the state manager of Commercial & Corporate WA , who has a genuine interest in mentoring and developing lawyers. Our Commercial & Corporate lawyers work closely with clients to provide pragmatic legal advice across all aspects of commercial and corporate law. We serve businesses and individuals across a wide range of industries, including medical and allied health, professional services, insurance, utilities and media. The key responsibilities of the role include: growing Avant Law’s Commercial & Corporate presence in the Avant Group’s Perth office, fostering relationships with existing Avant Group staff across our other businesses, management of legal files and prospective client opportunities under supervision as part of a growing practice, transaction matters such as M&A, including the sale and purchase of medical practices, structuring matters from establishment to scaling to exit strategy, day-to-day commercial matters including practitioner service agreements, commercial contracts, governance, terms and conditions and policies;intellectual property; and data compliance, governance and privacy matters. To be successful in this role you will: have a strong desire to pursue opportunities for growth and building relationships with clients and referral partners, have a relevant law degree with strong academic results and be eligible to hold an unsupervised practising certificate as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, have 2-5 years or more of post-admission experience in commercial and corporate law (preferably with an interest in M&A; and demonstrate a desire and willingness to support the ongoing expansion of Avant Law through marketing and business development in Western Australia, including attending major industry conferences and participating in speaking engagements.
