Consultant Intensivist seeking a new professional challenge and a warmer climate?Fantastic lifestyle in subtropical Queensland.Competitive remuneration package up to AUD$514,000 depending on experience.Incentive payment of AUD $20,000Additional overtime & on-call allowancesCoastal living with islands, waterways and beaches, as well as national parks and Great Barrier Reef.Excellent range of affordable housing – live in a house on the beach, apartment in the marina or on a farm in the hinterlands.Over 60 education facilities including public and private schools, special education, Wide Bay Institute of TAFE and the Central Queensland University campus.First class and well-resourced health service.Regular daily flights to Brisbane and Sydney.The RoleBundaberg Hospital are seeking an experienced Intensivist to:Perform the duties of a Senior Medical Officer (Intensive Care) at Bundaberg Hospital, participating in the Staff Specialist roster, including after-hours on-call and weekends.Ensure collegiate, multidisciplinary coordination of patient care within a closed-collaborative model of Intensive Care Services at Bundaberg Hospital.When rostered as the Intensivist on duty for the week, lead comprehensive clinical ward rounds, twice daily, assessing all patients including admissions, transfers and discharges.Provide expert clinical services including patient assessments, diagnostic workup, medical and procedural treatments within a defined and credentialed scope of practice.Day-to-day clinical supervision and bed side teaching of registrars, principal house officers and junior medical staff, including those undertaking clinical procedures.Provide specialist consultation and solutions to expedite care of patients referred to the Intensive Care Service, from both internal and external referral sources.Contribute to comprehensive patient care of a high quality, by participation in case planning, which includes appropriate pre-admission planning, in-hospital care and discharge planning.Support the Intensive Care outreach service in the Bundaberg Hospital and maintain oversight and follow-up as required, of outreach patients on the wards, for at least 48 hours following ICU referral or discharge.Provide supervision and procedural assistance for elective cardioversions, emergency trans-venous pacing, PICC line and dialysis catheter insertion service for patients in Bundaberg Hospital.RequirementsApplicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand.The HospitalThe Bundaberg Hospital is a 158 bed acute health care facility providing services such as 24 hour emergency department, theatre & anaesthetics, breast screening, general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics, gynaecology, intensive care/coronary care, , pathology, paediatrics, renal services, specialist outpatients, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, palliative care, medical imaging and the Community Hospital Interface Program (CHIP).
