Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention & Event Centre – Audio Visual Operations Manager Full time, permanent position Geelong, Southwest Coast Australia's newest Convention and Event Centre Start mid‑January 2026 We are seeking a highly skilled Audio‑Visual Operations Manager to oversee day‑to‑day crew operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery, strategic coordination, and effective stakeholder collaboration. The role focuses on optimising workforce performance through recruitment, training oversight, and accountability systems. Key responsibilities include managing EBA reporting, pay confirmations, agency shift validation, and financial accountability for labour. Work may be required outside standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and after‑hours contact to meet event requirements. Set to open in 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront, Nyaal Banyul is Victoria’s newest convention and event centre, operated by the Victorian Convention and Exhibition Trust (VCET). The venue features a 1,000‑seat theatre and 3,700 square meters of versatile event space. Deeply embedded in the Wadawurrung language, Nyaal Banyul, meaning ‘open your eyes to the hills’, immerses visitors in the surrounding sky, sea, and land. Responsibilities Provide daily direction and support to Audio Visual EBA employees and agency staff. Manage operational staff resourcing according to event and daily requirements, in accordance with the VCET Enterprise Agreement. Assist and provide input into rostering of technical staff for events and daily duties. Lead by example in ensuring all technicians and agency staff deliver technical services to agreed levels of quality and consistency and demonstrate ownership for service delivery. Approve timesheets for all Audio Visual EBA employees. Track and report all resource variations from the planned schedule. Assist in creation of employee rosters in conjunction with the Workforce Scheduling & Live Production teams. Provide strong leadership to the Audio Visual team, including casual employees. Undertake managerial tasks including recruitment, return‑to‑work, and leave management for direct reports. Coordinate regular team meetings to share business updates and address challenges and suggestions for improvement. Report on labour and agency expenditures as a percentage of revenue. Qualifications & Skills Construction (White) Card EWP (11m) license (HBO Boom) Demonstrated experience in the AV industry, ideally from a large‑scale venue such as a convention and exhibition centre Ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and make reasonable operational decisions Strong people leadership experience and capability, especially leading mid‑sized, casual, unionised workforces of AV technicians Growth mindset with the capability to embrace, adapt, and respond to change Our Culture At Nyaal Banyul, we honour diversity, inclusivity, and teamwork.
