Operational Risk Manager

We’ve partnered with a major Australian bank to help them bring on an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join their high‑performing risk division. This role sits at the heart of their first‑line and business‑aligned risk function, working closely with senior leaders to uplift risk culture, strengthen controls, and support growth in a complex, fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities Own and enhance operational risk frameworks, policies, and processes across the business unit Oversee execution of the risk and control self‑assessment programme, including identifying issues, emerging risks, and thematic trends Partner with business stakeholders to improve controls, uplift governance, and embed risk management into day‑to‑day decision making Support incident management, conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive remediation plans Lead and contribute to risk reporting, dashboards, committee papers, and senior management updates Monitor compliance with regulatory expectations and support readiness for internal/external audits Provide advice, challenge, and coaching to the business on operational risk matters What We're Looking For 4–8+ years’ operational risk experience within financial services (banking experience strongly preferred) Strong understanding of risk frameworks, control environments, and APRA/regulatory requirements Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate risk insights into actionable improvements Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge and influence senior leaders High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and the ability to operate in an agile environment Why This Role High visibility across senior leadership with genuine influence on risk uplift initiatives Complex, interesting product set and a bank known for innovation and strong risk culture A collaborative, flexible working environment that values development and progression Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia If you are interested, please reach out to #J-18808-Ljbffr
