To carry out fault diagnosis, repair and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) work on all Mechanical building services and equipment within Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) and any other local Trusts/organisations to which SCFT provide a service. To apply a flexible attitude and approach to carrying out all assigned tasks. To provide support and advice to semi- skilled and Apprentice engineering staff. The successful candidate must have good time management skills, be able to work alone or unsupervised when necessary and be very Health and Safety aware. The postholder will apply a flexible attitude and approach to carrying out all assigned tasks. The postholder will have incidental contact with patients such as giving wayfinding instructions. Skilled Worker visa: going rates for eligible occupation codes - GOV.UK Health and Care Worker visa: If you'll need to meet different salary requirements - GOV.UK Main duties of the job The post holder will be expected to undertake skilled electrical craft duties to enable effective fault diagnosis and repair to a wide range of plant and equipment as detailed below, Gas fired appliances (if Gas Safe Qualified) Oil fired boilers (if OFTEC Qualified) Catering equipment (mechanical element) Heating, hot and cold-water systems Pumps Waste-water systems including macerators. Laundry equipment Emergency generators (mechanical element) Fire alarm systems and fire-fighting equipment (testing) Lifts (Passenger and goods) Air Conditioning systems Domestic appliances Various other types of mechanical equipment Use digital and analogue test and monitoring instruments for effective testing and fault finding. Ability to analyse results. Carry out minor new works as directed by the Estates Operations Manager or Estates M and E Manager Interpret and work from appropriate instructions, drawings and specifications. To record accurately details of works completed including time, date, job content, location and materials used. Update logbooks, registers and other statutory records as directed by the Estates Operations Manager or Estates M and E Manager. Person Specification Qualifications and/ or Professional Registration Knowledge of a full range of trade procedures acquired through 4 year accredited course and/ or level 3 vocational qualification level or equivalent. Training and experience in: Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Boiler House Practices, Compressors, Safe release from lifts, LV AP, BMS systems, Legionella Competent Person, Unvented Systems, Gas Safe, OFTEC (Oil) Experience Experience of using computers. Significant Experience in a similar role Experience of providing a mentoring role Experience in working in a hospital/healthcare environment for apprentice training programmes. Skills and Knowledge To diagnose faults and effect repairs to electrical plant and equipment. Good written and verbal communication skills Able to use wide range of fault diagnosis and test equipment. Highly skilled in use of hand and powered tools Must possess current Full UK or EU Driving Licence Must possess good time management skills Basic IT skills A working knowledge of the Health and Safety At Work Act Basic knowledge of alarm systems and lifting equipment including passenger/goods lifts Ability to carry out and record risk assessments Intermediate knowledge of fire alarm systems Intermediate knowledge of lifts and lifting equipment. Intermediate knowledge of electronics. Knowledge of Legionella Control and Prevention. Other Requirements To be prepared to participate in the Estates Out of Hours on-call rota. Good standard of physical fitness. Access to own vehicle for work purposes. An understanding in relation to service delivery and relationships with colleagues.
