The Role: As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will take a leading role in driving the strategic, technical, and operational performance of the mining operations. This position is ideal for a high-level professional who is ready to influence key decisions, mentor engineering teams, and support the Mining Manager in planning, design, and optimisation across multiple project phases. You will play a crucial part in shaping sustainable mining solutions, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring all practices meet safety, statutory, and production standards. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee complex drill and blast design, including stoping, vertical development, and service hole planning for reticulation, pumping, probing, and drainage. Develop and deliver detailed short, medium, and long-term mine plans and schedules, including Life of Mine (LOM) strategies. Provide senior-level technical oversight and act as a key interface between Technical Services, Operations, and Management. Mentor, guide, and support junior and intermediate Mining Engineers in planning, design, optimisation, and daily operational activities. Conduct high-level optimisation studies, production forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mine performance. Ensure compliance with all site policies, mining legislation, and statutory obligations. Lead incident investigations, hazard analyses, and technical risk assessments. Collaborate closely with the Mining Manager on operational strategy, mine design improvements, and regulatory compliance. About You Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent). Significant experience in underground mining, including advanced expertise in Drill & Blast, mine planning, ventilation, and technical services. Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally in a Senior or Technical Specialist capacity. High proficiency in Deswik software for mine design, scheduling, and optimisation. Proven ability to lead projects, mentor engineering staff, and contribute to strategic decision-making. Strong analytical skills with a focus on safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
