We are seeking an Innovation Engineer to join our growing team and lead the development of next-generation engineering tools, standards, and internal systems that support our production and strategic objectives. ABOUT THE ROLE As the Innovation Engineer, you will work at the intersection of engineering, strategy, and product development. Your primary focus will be the creation, improvement, and governance of FPS' engineering templates, tools, and standards that underpin our trenchless design deliverables. Working closely with senior management, production team, and internal software developers, you will drive innovation across the business and play a key role in shaping the future of FPS. ROLE SPECIFIC DUTIES Collaborate closely with the management team to create new, high-quality engineering templates for use by the FPS production team. Work alongside the FPS production team to identify efficiency opportunities and calculation errors in existing templates, and implement robust, effective solutions. Identify emerging and relevant industry standards, technical papers, and guidelines relating to trenchless pipeline construction, and maintain FPS' internal library of these materials. Manage the upkeep and organisation of FPS' sever folders relating to innovation and governance standards. Train staff across the business in the use of new or improved engineering templates and tools. As FPS expands its Innovation business unit, this role will play a central part in its growth. The successful candidate will assist in the establishment of a Jnr Innovation Engineer role and will be responsible for supervising, mentoring, and ensuring the performance and development of that team member. ABOUT YOU A proactive problem solver with a strong attention to detail. Formally qualified in Engineering. NER or RPEQ accreditation is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates working towards these credentials are also encouraged to apply. Comfortable working in a technical environment with significant autonomy. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to build, audit, and optimise complex engineering templates, formulas, and structured calculation tools. Able to communicate clearly with both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders. Passionate about improving processes, systems, and engineering tools. Keen to contribute to FPS' long-term growth and capability building. Experience in pipeline design or engineering, or related infrastructure disciplines is advantageous, but we welcome candidates with strong analytical and engineering tool-development experience who are willing to grow into the trenchless space.
