Job Description
This is an exciting entry level position that involves ensuring the visual and technical quality of productions and outside broadcasts. This is done by delivering high-quality picture output and managing technical facilities. It is part of a small team within the Technical Operations team, working regular shifts across live and pre-recorded programs.
Day to day includes but won’t be limited to:
Studio:
Develop expertise in the camera chain and studio equipment maintenance.
Monitor video sources and adjust camera output for consistent quality.
Collaborate with the production team for optimal vision and technical execution.
Report and address faults in studio and control room equipment promptly.
Liaise with the lighting director to ensure balanced light levels during production.
Ensure compliance with company policies, occupational health, and safety standards.
Conduct technical checks and assist with equipment configuration as needed.
Outside Broadcast:
Liase with operators and ensure adherence to safety protocols during outside broadcasts.
Liaise with the production team to optimise camera and vision equipment application.
Prepare documentation and oversee equipment installation for outside productions.
Serve as technical director, monitoring camera alignment and quality during productions.
Qualifications
What we would like to see on your resume:
Strong understanding of electronics and ability to troubleshoot problems logically.
Proficiency in PC systems, internet, and software like Google Suite and VSM.
Effective team player with self-motivation and autonomy, coupled with excellent communication skills.
Capacity to plan, prioritise, and work under pressure, demonstrating initiative.
Positive, flexible, and proactive attitude with dedication to meeting production needs.
Desirable qualifications include knowledge of television transmission, precision instruments, production procedures, and relevant tertiary education.
