About the role This position is based at Ironbark No.1, located in the Bowen Basin and offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a new underground mine development. We are looking for an energetic and passionate Geotechnical Engineer to join our high performing Technical Services Team. You will primarily focus on providing critical engineering support to the team and manage project initiatives to improve operations on site. You will be a part of a collaborative team of professionals that have extensive operational experience both domestically and internationally, with strength and focus on large scale longwall operations. Key Responsibilities Oversee planning and management of risks associated with Geotechnical hazards within the bounds of the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 and Regulation 2001 to maintain and improve mine safety. Lead geotechnical investigations, including field mapping, sampling, and laboratory testing, to assess ground conditions and identify potential hazards. Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs to ensure early detection of any geotechnical issues. Perform geotechnical design work, project manage where applicable, manage client communication, and advise on project commercials. Work in collaboration with the geology, mining, and operational teams. Conduct regular inspections of high-risk areas and recommend appropriate remedial measures when required. Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and present findings and recommendations to management and key stakeholders. About You Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, engineering geology or a related field. Experience in geotechnical engineering within underground coal mining operations is highly desirable. Experience with geotechnical software, such as Rocscience, or GeoStudio. RPEQ qualification or the intent to obtain is desirable but not essential. Experience in the selection, engagement, and collaboration of expert consultants. Demonstrated experience leading geotechnical investigations and providing interpretation. A strategic thinker with superior reasoning and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated commitment to the achievement of business goals and culture.
