Position Summary : The Team Leader Youth & Community Safety (Roving) based at Wadeye is responsible for overseeing the delivery of Youth and Community Programs for youth in community and working collaboratively on strategic and sustainable planning to promote community safety in the Region in accordance with West Daly Regional Council strategic and regional plans policies procedures and relevant legislation. The key duties of this role include but are not limited to : Community Safety Patrol Program Work with the Community Safety Patrol Coordinator to develop and strengthen relationships within the Community and across all stakeholder groups to ensure Community Safety Patrol services are delivered efficiently and meet the expectations of the Community. Support Community Safety Patrol Team Leaders and Officers to ensure children are at home in a safe location or with a parent/carer of an evening. Facilitate links with schools and School Attendance Officers where appropriate. Support the Community Safety Patrol Coordinator to provide regular roving on‑ground supervision and support to teams operating in Nganmarriyanga and Peppimenarti including supporting local employees with data and reporting. Provide detailed regular reports and updates to the Community Safety Program Coordinator on program status risk and contingencies. Active Regional and Remote Communities Program Contract manage external providers employed by Council to deliver sport and recreation programs. Engage with program participants to provide high quality services and activities taking into consideration individual needs using a strength‑based approach. Use a people‑centred approach that develops the aspirations and opportunities for Aboriginal people in remote communities ensuring flexibility in program delivery. Coach supervise and mentor sport and recreation officers ensuring local residents have access to opportunities that build their capacity. Ensure that employees always maintain current Drivers Licence Working with Vulnerable Children Card (OCHRE) and Criminal History Checks. About You To be successful in the role you must have : Tertiary qualifications in welfare social or community services community safety or equivalent experience. Experience working in a remote community. Previous experience managing a small team managing and mentoring employees. Demonstrable experience communicating with stakeholders at all levels. Relevant industry knowledge in the field of safety patrol services or similar service Good oral communication skills and proven knowledge of Indigenous language that will enable sensitive and effective communication with Indigenous people in a remote community. A good understanding of issues affecting Indigenous people in remote communities. Good skills in conflict resolution and negotiation along with the ability to intervene in unsafe situations confidently and positively. Proven experience communicating with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to act impartially and with respect to different groups within the community. Good understanding of problems associated with alcohol violence and substance abuse. Experience working with Indigenous people in an outreach capacity and / or patrol experience. Possess or willingness to attain basic administrative skills including computing skills to input and maintain data. A working knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Regulations. Current Northern Territory Drivers Licence. National Criminal History Check clearance. Current Working with children / Ochre Card.
