Richmond Repair Corner - Electrical Fixer Volunteer Position Context The Richmond Neighbourhood Centre (RNC) provides spaces and opportunities for people to connect, contribute and communicate. As a neighbourhood house we support a community development approach, by working closely with local people to provide a range of inclusive programs activities and events. Our aim is to create a stronger and more vibrant community with activities ranging from adult training courses, playgroups, health and fitness classes, community choir and other interest groups. We also provide volunteering opportunities and volunteer led programs such as the Richmond Repair Corner and Cheeky Chook Crew. The Program The Richmond Repair Corner program is a monthly event where volunteer fixers and helpers come together to repair household items that community members bring in. It is run on the last Sunday of every month from 10am to 12pm. The group’s aim is to minimise waste going to landfill by extending the life of various household items and strengthen local communities through face‑to‑face sharing of knowledge and skills about mending and repairing, often across age and demographics. Position Purpose To repair electrical household items brought in by community members during the monthly repair sessions and/or to give advice when suitable and repair is not possible. Position Summary Main responsibilities and duties: Assist with set up of your table with the relevant equipment Accept household items during repair times and attempt to repair them. Communicate clearly with item owner about the items repair progress and/or potential outcome. Communicate throughout the session with fellow helpers, program coordinator, fixers when needed. Assist with pack up process Skill sets and experience We are looking for someone who is: A skilled, passionate and patient fixer with experience fixing electrical household items. Orientation and induction Initial meeting with Volunteer Coordinator Come and watch a session – a great opportunity to see a session in action, meet fellow volunteers and chat with the volunteer program coordinator. Support from fellow fixers/volunteers Review following first 3 months in the role Category Environment & Conservation Commitment Regular – more than 6 months Time Required Volunteering is required once a month, on the last Sunday of each month from 9:30am to 12:30pm. #J-18808-Ljbffr
