Finance Business Partner – Aviation Join Melbourne Airport’s Aviation team as a Finance Business Partner. The role is accountable for providing expert financial support and insightful analysis to the Aviation portfolio, advising senior leaders on performance, forecasting, and investment decisions. Role Overview As a trusted adviser to the Head of Commercial & Finance, Aviation and the Chief of Aviation, you will deliver accurate financial reporting, annual budgeting, long‑term forecasting, and secure recovery analysis. You will also lead business case development, commercial reporting, and people management for a small finance team. Key Responsibilities Business Partnering and Monthly Reporting Act as a trusted financial advisor to the Aviation team and cross‑functional stakeholders. Own the approval of monthly billing and review of movements and charges. Provide timely month‑end reports with commentary to executive leaders. Budgeting & Forecasting Prepare annual budgets and forecasts for the entire Aviation portfolio. Maintain forward looking forecasts, identifying dependencies, risks and opportunities. Manage LTM assumptions and inputs, ensuring alignment with internal budgets. Support the Commercial Finance Manager with board and analyst presentations. Security Recoveries Lead security recovery budgeting, forecasting and reporting across terminal categories. Reconcile monthly recoveries against the D365 ledger. Produce quarterly and annual security reporting to airlines. Manage external audit requirements for APAM securities. Commercial Prepare quarterly T1 TOL reporting with analysis and support airline queries. Develop TOL budgets and forecasts, negotiate with Qantas under TOL agreements. Reconcile airline incentives and manage related reporting. Maintain strong relationships with commercial leadership. Capital Investment Business Cases Review financial outcomes for investment projects and provide analytical support. Test business case assumptions, run sensitivities, and capture operating cost impacts. Educate stakeholders on best practice business case methods. People Leadership Manage performance, set objectives, and hold direct reports accountable. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Mentor and develop team skills and capabilities. Qualifications CA/CPA qualified. Strong knowledge of accounting practices, standards and methodologies. Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills. Highly analytical with experience in reporting, forecasting and data quality assurance. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; strong data manipulation skills. 7+ years senior finance experience in a large corporate, preferably infrastructure or capital‑intensive sector. High attention to detail and ability to present financial insights succinctly. Self‑starter in a fast‑paced environment; able to prioritise multiple projects.
