Criminal & Civil Law (Legal)Government - Federal (Government & Defence)Full timeAdd expected salary to your profile for insightsGreat opportunity to join ASIC's Legal Services teamProvide advice and guidance to support investigations and prosecutionsPermanent role in Brisbane, Melbourne or SydneySalary from $141,690 to $156,680 plus 15.4% superannuationThe Legal Services teamThe Legal Services Team is responsible for the delivery of legal services across ASIC and is instrumental in driving ASIC's reputation as a modern and effective regulator and enforcement authority.Legal Services is led by the General Counsel, Executive Director and comprises the following teams: Enforcement Legal Services, Regulatory Legal Services, Corporate Legal Services, the Hearing Delegates Panel, and the Legal Operations Team.The Criminal Law Team is expected to couple legal expertise with a contemporary approach to the delivery of legal services, including through the embrace of continual improvement, innovation, building efficient capability and the use of technology to optimise execution.The roleAs a senior lawyer, your role will include:providing advice, guidance, and assistance on all aspects of ASIC's investigation of criminal offences and the prosecutions of those offences, including policies relating to the exercise of ASIC's information gathering powerscollaborating with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP) in relation to complex criminal prosecutions. They also consult with stakeholders and provide advice on legislative reform relevant to information-gathering powers, investigations, criminal offences and criminal proceduresreviewing and developing criminal law policies and practices within ASIC.About youWe are looking for someone with 5+ years post admission experience in complex criminal investigations and enforcement activities, particularly white collar/corporate crime, along with experience in strategic management of major criminal cases.You'll need strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to negotiate and consult to engage all levels of the organisation and develop effective partnerships with a range of stakeholders.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to work to meet deadlines while managing several competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.About ASICASIC's remit is one of the broadest of regulators across the world.ASIC regulates corporations, markets, financial services and consumer credit, and monitors and promotes market integrity and consumer protection in the Australian financial system.Through our enforcement and regulatory work, we hold to account those who contravene the law, working to achieve strong outcomes that address the greatest consumer and investor harms.Through Moneysmart, we aim to improve the skills and knowledge of Australians and provide information and tools to help them in their financial decision making.A future with ASIC means that your work will contribute to achieving ASIC's vision for a fair, strong, and efficient financial system for all Australians.ASIC is committed to a providing a diverse and inclusive workplace where the very best talent in Australia chooses to work.
