The Role: We are currently seeking an experienced and energetic Supervisor for our Cairns Social Housing project. This role will report to the Site Manager and be responsible for managing works by leading a team to drive effective delivery outcomes, monitoring the construction program in line with the overall project program, and adhering to HSE requirements. Key Responsibilities Project Coordination: Organise and supervise tradespeople, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet project milestones. Workforce Supervision: Directing and managing a crew, allocating duties, monitoring attendance, and coordinating tasks to ensure efficiency. Quality Assurance: Inspect work to ensure it meets design plans, building codes, and client expectations. Safety Oversight: Enforce Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards and conduct regular site safety checks. Client Communication: Provide updates to clients and stakeholders and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Deliver works to budget, looking for opportunities for efficiency. Documentation & Compliance: Manage building permits, council applications, and ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met. Problem Solving: Address on‑site issues promptly, including delays, material shortages, or technical challenges. Competencies We’re Seeking Hands‑On Site Experience: Proven experience working on building projects and progressively taking on more responsibility. Experience as a Leading Hand, Supervisor or Foreman in the construction industry. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment, and the ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings. Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire your team. Exceptional problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, with a focus on finding practical solutions. Thorough knowledge of relevant safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance on the worksite. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with necessary parties including public speaking in front of work groups. Hold a mandatory safety white card to work on any construction site in Australia. Valid Driver’s license.
